This editorial is for L’edito Magazine is playing up the pink hair trend that I’m sharing an obsession with this week. Its the perfect mix of futuristic meets fifties and even though there is a plethora of jewelry I would normally find to be too over the top and distracting, it finishes off these modern Marilyn looks so nicely. And those red moto gloves? Amazing.

Charlotte Free is officially taking over the spotlight. And lets be honest, whats not to love about a girl who self dyes her hair at home and then books five campaigns in one season? Her pink hombre look is popping up everywhere this season graduating into a full on trend for fall. I’m all about Ms. Free’s bold, fearless attitude and today I am channeling her in this British Vogue editorial.

As we are all aware the 90′s are back with full force and I couldn’t be happier. I was unable to celebrate my inner grunge side when it all begun mainly because I was quite literally a child still in middle school.
Now that I’m an adult I have defiantly given in to my love for all things grunge ie. shaving the side of my head, moving to Williamsburg and getting a bit too much wear out of my vintage green cargo jacket. I have recently been listening to a lot of Nirvana and I’m very inspired by the music and style icon Kurt Cobain.
I love these photos taken by photographer Jesse Frohman just months before his final days. Sad to say I missed the gallery here in soho a few weeks back but I will be making a trip to the Morrison Gallery in La when I visit in June.

I fell in love with this look book from designer Karissma Yve. The collection has claimed the name the Wandering Lust and it’s full of whim and romanticism and it’s perfect for how I’m feeling this Sunday afternoon.

There are only a handful of models I have followed as far back as I can remember. One of them being Ms. Erin Wasson. When I’m channeling my inner hippie, I look to her for inspiration. She’s a free spirit style icon with a rockin jewelry line called Lowluv and looks like the coolest girl on planet every time she steps outside. Not to mention she’s the reason tattoos are in my future.

As an adorable Aussie designer in her twenty-somethings, Kym Ellery knows a thing or two about what works on a women’s body. This season she showcased that with her flattering cuts and a whole lot of structure. Scarlet red, silver, and mossy green acted as her dominant color palette, which all worked together to bring the ultra-feminine collection to life.

Last night the Oscars of fashion happened in New York City, also known to most as the Met Ball. Every major name in the fashion industry is in attendance, accompanied by a celebrity or model muse of their choice. This year was celebrating Prada as well as Elsa Schiaparelli, who together comprise the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, “Impossible Conversations.”
My top pick of the night goes to Rooney Mara in that immaculate Givenchy one-shoulder lace number. She’s just so cool its out of control.

Summertime advances into first place in my lineup of seasons when I think about all the short shorts, long nights and cold treats in my future. Another thought that gets me giddy? The possibility of pashing on a new babe for three straight months. And tis the season to get our kiss on right? Fashion retailer H&M has launched their Fashion Against Aids campaign and are leaving it up to us to kiss for the cause! Here’s how to get involved:
Single? If so, grab as many friends, family members or hot prospects and snap a picture of you two locking lips. Go to FashionAgainstAids.com, upload your “kiss & tell” photo and H&M will donate $1 to the campaign for every photo receive. Disclaimer: keep it PG.
Taken? You still have the option of kissing for the cause but if you wish to take a more orthodox approach then go to your nearest H&M store and shop their Fashion Against Aids summer 2012 collection. 25% of your sale will go towards a charitable endeavor.

Best friends and design duo Luke Sales and Anna Plunkett have got to be two of the most creative visionaries in Australia. I had the pleasure of working with them last year when they took over the Sydney public library to open Fashion Week with a romance-filled show full of art deco as its inspiration.
This year Romance Was Born partnered up with Marvel Comics, going back into seven decades of archives to dig up a collection that screamed BAM! and KAPOW! literally. A party palette of pinks, yellows, purples and greens dominated the structured shapes and tailored cuts of this collection. The hair and makeup team deserve some recognition too, as they created fire orange locks and striking makeup full of color and craziness. I give them an A+ for creating an original collection that will be nothing short of memorable.

This time last year instead of reviewing the collections from Sydney fashion week out of a cafe in New York I was physically backstage getting acquainted with them first hand. Although we were unable to make it down under this season it’s still important to keep up with our favorite Australian designers.
There’s no better collection to start of with other than Manning Cartell. Jesse and I both worked with the amazing sisters last season and it was such a lovely experience. They all bring such different qualities to their design aesthetic giving each collection such a range that all types of girls can appreciate.
This season they kept their usual sophistication while playing with shapes and adding a sporty vibe. The color palette popped using pink and purples to hype up the collection that featured many crisp white looks. Layered accessories and brightly colored shoes kept the collection feeling young and fun.
Hoping next season we will be reporting the trends back in our favorite city.
